ScreenPact User Guide
Getting Started
When you first launch ScreenPact, you'll need to set up two important settings:
- Password: Create a secure password to protect the settings. This ensures only you can modify the daily limit or other configurations.
- Daily Limit: Set the total screen time budget for each day (e.g., 2 hours). This is the amount of time your child can use the internet per day.
Once configured, ScreenPact will remember these settings and apply them automatically each day.
How it Works for Your Child
ScreenPact gives your child control over their screen time through a simple Start/Pause toggle mechanism:
- Start: When your child is ready to use their screen time, they click "Start" to begin their session. The internet is OFF by default, so they must actively choose to start.
- Pause: They can pause their session at any time (during a break, meal, etc.), which stops the timer. The remaining time is saved for later use.
While active, a semi-transparent timer overlay appears on their screen, showing the remaining time in their daily budget. This keeps them aware of time without interrupting their gaming or browsing experience.
Tips for Success
Talk to your child first. Frame ScreenPact as a tool for them, not a punishment. Explain that it helps them learn to manage their own time and build self-discipline. When they understand the purpose and feel in control, they're more likely to embrace it.
